I know the idea of launching a brand new business (or course, product, service, etc…) can be intimidating, and if you’ve never done it before, where do you even start?
But fear not, friends. Successfully completing a launch isn’t as scary as it seems. Don’t listen to the coaches out there who tell you it’s crazy-complicated and requires an insane amount of support to pull off. When you follow the same five fundamental steps, it can actually be quite simple.
Keep reading to learn about the five steps and start planning your launch 🚀
The most important step is really the first step. You need to know what type of business you’re creating or what you will be selling. What are you passionate about? What do you want to help people with? What value can you provide to your future clients/customers? Once you’ve decided on the what, you must figure out the who.
Who are you speaking to? What kind of people do you want to attract? I know it can feel silly but really dig into one specific person you’re trying to reach. Give the person a name, a job, and a whole life story. What do they like? More importantly, what don’t they like? It’s vital to do this work before the rest of the steps because everything you do from here on out will be geared toward this person.
Break out that notepad, crack open your laptop, and start researching. Take the time to look into possible competitors in your industry, figure out what your target audience is looking for, and figure out how you can provide value that no one else can.
I know this is a tempting step to skip, but it’s going to be worth it. Once you’re aware of any potential gaps in the market that you can fill, you’ll know exactly how to give yourself an advantage when it comes to booking clients.
Showing up online is going to be very, very important. Establishing your online presence will give you an avenue to build connections and find clients. It can also contribute to your visibility using search engine optimization and other marketing strategies.
So what does it take to create a well-rounded online presence? It’s simple – a brand identity, a website, and some social media profiles. However, don’t make the mistake of feeling like you need to show up everywhere all the time. Focus on your website (because that’s the only slice of the Internet you’ll own), and then choose one or two social media platforms that feel fun and exciting. Remember to play to your strengths; it’s much better to do a few things well than a lot of things half-heartedly.
With your online presence ramping up, it’s time to dream up a marketing plan! Decide whether you want to focus on organic marketing or paid ads, create valuable content that you can share with your audience, and start posting on each platform.
The best way to gain attention for your online business is to stay consistent and build awareness of your brand. There won’t be any clients knocking on your door if they don’t know your business exists, so putting yourself out there is key.
With all of the aforementioned steps in place, it’s time to launch the damn thing! Take a deep breath and click ‘publish.’ I know that you’re cut out for entrepreneurship because you’ve had the determination and drive to get this far. It won’t always be easy, but trust in yourself and build your confidence. It’s all going to work out.
You’ve got this!
