If you’re a business owner, you know that running a business is an ever-changing and always evolving process (if you want to stay relevant and successful, that is). But how do you know when it’s time to make a change?
Today, we’re talking about 3 ways you know it’s time to switch things up—either in your systems and processes, in how you manage your business, or even in your client experience. If any of these resonate with you, you know what to do (and if you don’t, I can help!).
When you find yourself staring at those stubborn, unyielding numbers, it’s a very clear sign that something in your business needs to change. Whether your revenue goals are always remaining out of reach, you haven’t been booking the new clients you’ve expected, or the engagement you’ve had on social media has stalled, it’s something that needs to be addressed.
These metrics aren’t just arbitrary figures; they’re a snapshot of the health and forward movement of your business, revealing whether your current strategies are taking you closer towards your goals or missing the mark. When your numbers plateau, it’s a moment to pause, reflect, and reevaluate. So, if you’ve been noticing a lack of progress, it’s time to consider where you can flex and adapt to start hitting those marks again.
If you’ve been completing projects for your clients and haven’t heard any positive feedback from them (especially if you’ve asked for it), then you might need to make a change. Whether the issue is with the results of the project or the client experience you provide, it’s vital that you take the time to figure it out and address it.
The experience that your clients have while working with you is paramount to your business’ success—happy clients means more word-of-mouth referrals, positive reviews online, and confirmation that what you’re doing is working. Without that, you’ll have a much more difficult time connecting with new clients who feel as though you’re trustworthy and the right person for the job.
Audit your client experience from beginning and end, and assess any areas that might not be up to par. Think of creative ways to make your clients feel valued and like they made a smart investment, and always, always be open to their feedback so you can continue to learn and grow.
If you’re struggling to complete tasks throughout the day because you feel the need to jump back and forth between areas in your business, it’s time to make a change. No one can make progress if you’re constantly having to context-switch, so if that sounds like you, it’s important that you find a way to make running your business more manageable.
You can consider hiring a virtual assistant to support you in your lower-level tasks, work on creating a content batching schedule, improve the workflows and automations in your business systems, or even hire someone to help you run the whole darn thing (…like an OBM 😉).
When you’re better able to focus on one task at a time and you feel like you can work on higher-level strategies and develop the vision for your business, you’ll undoubtedly start making larger and faster strides towards your goals.
