Us business owners know – there’s no time to repeat the same small tasks over and over again. So why would we?! If you haven’t yet explored the world of automations for your business, man, you’re in for a treat. Automations allow us to reclaim some of our working hours to focus on creating deliverables, interacting with clients, and dreaming big dreams.
A quick note before we dive in – I create all of my automations using Honeybook (it’s amazing, check it out here).

Raise your hand if you LOVE sending emails! Anyone? *crickets*
It’s a task that needs to get done if you want to get any bookings, but it’s one that’s also dreaded. You write the same email over and over when you get new client inquiries, need to contact clients about payments, send contracts, and the list goes on. With ~automations~ you’re free to forget about some emails and focus on getting back to messages that require a unique response!
Some examples of canned emails:
Essentially, if it’s an email you send all. the. time., then it’s time to get that shit automated.
There are all sorts of files you might need to send as a business owner. They’re important pieces of information for clients, and they’re vital to keep your business running. Think about files that you’re going use repeatedly, and create an automation around that! If you’re a photographer and always send a pricing guide to your clients so they can choose their package, then it might be perfect to have one automatically sent when leads book a discovery call or send an inquiry.
Some of my favorite files to send automatically include:
Once your automation has been created, all you have to do is sit back and watch it work!
Maybe you’re the type of CEO that likes to keep a mental to-do list, or maybe you’re a business owner who can’t live without a planner. Either way, you’re tasked with remembering every item for each project and writing it down (or thinking of it when the time comes!).
If you have tasks that need to get done for every project, you can create an automation that prompts you when that task is coming due. Pretty amazing, right? I sleep well at night knowing that every aspect of my client projects is accounted for and will be remembered.
Creating a seamless client experience means that nothing falls through the cracks, and this is the perfect way to do that.
If you’re looking to get automations for your business set up smoothly, it might be time to consider bringing on an online business manager. We’re able to help you discover which emails/tasks/etc. would be ideal to automate, and we can help you create systems that work with you.
